24. Helsinki Samba Carnaval was arranged on 7.6.2014. This was the 6th year when I was photographing the Samba Carnaval for the The Association of Finnish Samba Schools (SSKL). My parade photos are now visible in Helsinki Samba Carnaval 2014 – Parade gallery. Unfortunately I had flu, so I did not photograph the Baile do Carnaval. But I did not want to miss parade, as I have photographed it every year since 2003 🙂

Link to Marimekko Fashion Show 2014 gallery
Marimekko arranged their annual summer fashion show in the Esplanade Park on last Friday (23.5.2014). This year Marimekko celebrated also the 50th anniversary of Unikko pattern in the fashion show. Two previous years the models of this show were dancers from Finnish National Ballet (and they danced, not walked on the catwalk!), but this year the show was again traditional fashion show with models from e.g. Paparazzi Model Management.

Crowning of Havis Amanda, Market Square, Helsinki, Finland (30.4.2014)
May Day celebrations started with the traditional crowning of Havis Amanda, the Manta statue at Market Square. Click above photo to see 1900 pixels wide panorama! After the crowning, there was a party in the fountain 🙂

Full moon over Suomenlinna Church / Link to Winter Landscapes from Helsinki 2013-2014 gallery
Last winter was very short in Helsinki. Some people complained that there was hardly any in winter in Helsinki. I like to photograph winter landscapes in Helsinki when the sea is freezing, and the sea did froze in January. There were 10 days that were very photogenic 🙂 So from the photography point of view, I’m satisfied with the last winter.
My best photos from last winter are in this Winter Landscapes from Helsinki 2013-2014 gallery. The photo locations in Helsinki that are included to this gallery are: Lauttasaari, Suomenlinna, Kallahdenniemi, Uutela and Market Square / South Harbour. During this winter I was teaching again in Kameraseura‘s advanced landscape photography course. We had 12+ field trips during the winter, so many photos are from these course trips.

Link to Rockettes – Short and Free Programs 2014 gallery
Synchronized skating team Rockettes performed their short and free programs in Helsinki on 29.3.2014 before leaving to World Synchronized Skating Championships in Italy. Rockettes won bronze medal with these programs 🙂 Congratulations to them!

Art on Ice show was arranged in Hartwall Arena on 11.3.2014. Lux Helsinki was arranged at the beginning of January. Part of Lux Helsinki was 360 by Fire Circus Walkea fire art performance by Studio “Fire circle”. The performers were Jovita Aukštakalnytė, Kita Aušra, Krasauskaitė Aistė and Ugnė Motekūnaitė. Choreography was done by Antti Suniala.

The Professional Make-up Artists of Finland arranged Finnish Body Painting Championships (Body Paintingin SM-Kisat) at I love me event on 12.10.2013. The theme of the body painting competition was “renaissance of colours” (“värien renessanssi”). I took these photos during the painting, before the award ceremony, and during the award ceremony.
